MSUCOM Selection Process
To be considered for admission, an applicant must:
After the Office of Admissions receives these materials, the applicant’s file is screened by an admissions representative to determine eligibility for an invitation to interview. The Admissions team will evaluate applications based on several criteria deemed important to the mission of the college, including, but not limited to: academic success, MCAT performance, exposure to the osteopathic profession, professional and community service experience, personal testimony, interview performance, and letters of evaluation.
The Admissions Committee is comprised of MSUCOM representatives with roles in pre-clerkship and clerkship education, including physicians, academic support professionals, administrative leaders and students. Applicant selected for review by the Admissions Committee will be assigned to an individual committee member who will examine the application package and present his/her findings to the full committee. Applicants will then be notified of the admissions decision. Decisions made by the admissions committee include the following:
• Offer Admission
• Offer Position on Waiting List
• Decline Admission
• Hold Applicant for Fall Grades
• Hold Applicant for MCAT Results
• Invite Applicant for Interview
Intentional misrepresentation or omission of information on any form relevant to admissions or records will subject the student to immediate withdrawal of acceptance or dismissal (if already enrolled).
The MSUCOM reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant for any reason deemed sufficient. Matriculation will be denied to applicants who have failed to maintain good records of scholastic performance and/or good records of personal conduct between the time of their acceptance and their matriculation.
