Principles of Manual Medicine online is restricted to licensed P.T.’s. and D.O.'s.
Description: Principles of Manual Medicine online is a combination of online video lectures and hands-on experience sufficient to enable participants to understand the principles involved in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders amenable to manual medicine methods. Emphasis will be placed on integrating manual medicine into total health care. There are 10 hours of video lecture to be watched online. In Spring 2017, the clinical hands-on segment of the course is being held in East Lansing, Michigan. All 10 hours of video, plus relevant quizzes must be done prior to your attendance at the hands-on segment.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will 1) list principles of diagnosis of vertebral, rib, pelvic and extremity motion and dysfunction; 2) recognize clear indications for treatment of the musculoskeletal system using manual medicine techniques; 3) describe principles and practical application of manual medicine using muscle energy, myofascial, mobilization with impulse, articulatory and functional techniques; and 4) will be able to assess and perform basic manual medicine techniques.
Required Text: Principles of Manual Medicine, Greenman, PE, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, First, Second, Third, or Fourth Edition. (A copy of the text is included as part of the registration fee). You will be mailed a copy of the book within two weeks of the online course opening Please be sure to bring this with you when you come for the clinical segment.
