The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean’s Award for Meritorious Contribution
Joanne Marie Grzeszak, D.O.
With exceptional service to her community, her profession and her alma mater, Dr. Joanne Grzeszak, a 1976 MSUCOM alumna, exemplifies a positive attitude and commitment that permeates all she accomplishes. A family physician, she was a member of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians board for nine years and was its president. A private practitioner in West Michigan since 1981, she has served on the board of directors of the Kent County Osteopathic Association for 20 years, and also served as its president.
At Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, she has served as secretary and chairman of the Department of Family Practice, a member of the Executive Committee, and secretary/treasurer of the staff. Dr. Grzeszak also worked as a staff physician at MSU’s Olin Health Center from 1977-79, and as an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at MSUCOM from 1979-1981.
When MSUCOM alumni gather, Dr. Grzeszak is almost always present. Her support has extended to two terms, 30 years apart, as a member of the MSUCOM Alumni Association board. She teaches our students as a clinical associate professor of family and community medicine.
For her Spartan enthusiasm and commitment, her service in the care of her patients and community, and her leadership within the osteopathic profession, we at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine proudly honor Dr. Joanne Grzeszak with the Dean’s Award for Meritorious Contribution.
