Research Mentorship for Medical Students and Residents
The COM Office of Research will review and approve requests for research electives for medical students in preclerkship and clerkship.
Students can select from the categories listed below and use this web page to search for MSU faculty carrying out research. This information will be helpful for medical students desiring
(1) Preclerkship research (2-3 credits per semester, which requires 6- 9 hours per week) Maximum 18 credits.
(2) Research Rotation as part of the MSUCOM Clerkship Program (4 weeks at 40 hours per week (6 credits). Maximum 12 weeks (18 credits)
(3) Research leading to a MS degree (e.g, Epidemiology, Microbiology, etc.)
(4) DO-PhD mentorship.
