Rotation Application Process:
Students are required to apply for all rotations a minimum of 30 days in advance of the first day of the rotation.
An ELECTIVE is defined as a non-core rotation that is completed in any hospital, physician’s office or facility. Students are required to complete a total of 36 weeks of Non-Core rotations. 16 of these non-core rotation weeks must be completed within the Statewide Campus System (SCS). These are weeks that are tracked on your schedule and are called SELECTIVES.
Base Hospital Rotation Applications:
Step 1 - Contact the medical education coordinator to arrange (according to your Kobiljak schedule) a specialty and date for requested rotation. If an agreement is reached continue to step 2.
Step 2 - Apply for the pre-arranged rotation by completing a Base Hospital Application from your Kobiljak schedule.
Step 3 - When rotation request application has all approvals and enrollment completed, the rotation will be added to the students Kobiljak schedule.
Step 1 - You must call ahead to the coordinator at the base hosptial where you are cancelling the rotation FIRST before you submit another application for a new rotation.
Step 2 - You must apply on the line of your schedule where you are cancelling the rotation to change it back to OUT TIME before you can submit another new rotation application. Failure to complete this step will delay the processing of your application.
Step 3 - You must apply for the change back to OUT TIME and have it sent to the base hospital where you are cancelling the rotation. Once they approve your online cancellation, you will be able to apply for a new rotation.
Non-Base Hospital rotation applications:
Step 1 - Contact the Institution’s medical education office to arrange (according to your Kobiljak schedule) a specialty and date for requested rotation. If an agreement is reached continue to step 2.
Step 2 – Apply for the pre-arranged rotation by completing a Non-Base Hospital Application and sending it to the facility to secure the rotation. When approval with appropriate signatures is obtained continue to step 3.
NOTE: When a facility requires their application or the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS); students should comply in lieu of the non-base hospital application.
Step 3 – Submit application to OsteoMedReg@hc.msu.edu for continued approvals and enrollment. Once completed rotation will be added to students Kobiljak schedule.
Step 1 - You must call ahead to the facility where you are cancelling the rotation FIRST before you submit another application for a new rotation.
Step 2 - You must send into our office a confirmation of the rotation cancellation before we can remove this from your schedule and add a new rotation.
Keep in mind that you can only make 3 schedule changes per semester.
