Program Level Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of the four-year course of study leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree were written to support the mission and vision of MSUCOM while incorporating and transcending the seven core competencies of the osteopathic profession. These objectives explain the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors that osteopathic medical students are expected to attain prior to graduation. They were informed by sources such as the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC). The curricular structure includes education, training, and ongoing assessment to ensure that individual students progress in their competency in each of these domains.
