Diversity and Inclusion

The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine demonstrates leadership among medical schools for its commitment to a culture in which all students, faculty and staff feel safe, valued, supported, heard and empowered.

The mission of the college's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is to cultivate an open community of individuals who respect and celebrate the broad range of social identities and reject acts of oppression, discrimination, stigma, abuse and harassment.

The role of the committee is to:

  • Provide a platform

  • Foster open communication
    • Foster open communication with the college on issues and actions pertaining to inclusion and diversity. This includes advising, making recommendations and working together to identify and address all forms of discrimination.
  • Build alliances
    • Build alliances across student organizations, faculty and administration in order to create and sustain safe environments for all in the College of Osteopathic Medicine community.
  • Integrate inclusion into curriculum
    • Assist the efforts of the College Curriculum Committee to integrate principles of diversity and inclusion into the curriculum by identifying resources, making recommendations, and supporting initiatives.
