Cranial Technique Part I

Prerequisite: Principles of Manual Medicine

Description: This four day course is designed to provide a solid anatomic and physiologic foundation for the diagnosis and treatment of structural problems within the cranial mechanism. The course has ample opportunity for hands-on experience.

Objectives: Upon completing this course, the participant will be better able to 1) recognize the primary respiratory mechanism; 2) apply palpatory skills and diagnostic understanding to the cranial mechanics; 3) recognize potential dysfunctions within the cranial system; 4) apply the principles of manipulative management to cranial dysfunction; and 5) have a biomechanical awareness of temporomandibular joint dysfunction as a structural dysfunction.

Cranial Technique with Clinical Correlation

Prerequisites: Principles of Manual Medicine and Cranial Techniques Part I

Description: This three day course provides a thorough review of all material presented in the part I course. More specialized techniques are given in the diagnosis and treatment of the sacrum, the diaphragm, face, and TMJ problems. Diagnosis and treatment of the infant skull will be addressed. Students will be introduced to the cranial principles applied to the whole body.  

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will: 1) analyze and distinguish the anatomy of the skull and cranial articulations; 2) be proficient in the four quadrant diagnosis concept; 3) be proficient in the methods of cranial treatment via dural membranes, fluid techniques, articular release, and the sacrum; 4) be thoroughly cognizant of articular restrictions involving the face; and 5) recognize the biomechanics and structural treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction
