Associate dean for research, Co-director of the D.O.- Ph.D. training program

Dr. Furqan B. Irfan is an assistant professor and director of research development at the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has broad ranging experience in research and academic health system development, epidemiology, population and global health, big data analysis, translational public health, health services research, healthcare business and policy.

Carolina Restini is an Associate Professor and Thread Director for Pharmacology in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) program at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology. Her main areas of expertise are medical pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, hypertension, pharmacoepidemiology, and healthcare education.

I am an Associate Professor in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and in Pediatrics and Human Development. In the College of Osteopathic Medicine, I serve as the co-director of the DO/PhD program. The broad theme of my research is common complex diseases. The current objectives are to identify genetic factors that cause and contribute risk for orofacial clefting, and to measure and mitigate the impact of hearing loss using a community-based participatory approach in rural mid-Michigan.
