SpartanDO Expert Take blog series launches

Back

“There is no health without mental health.” Dr. Farha Abbasi, associate professor of psychiatry, shared simple and effective strategies to promote mental health wellness in the first SpartanDO Expert Take blog post, a new series examining the intersection of applied osteopathic medicine and culturally relevant issues. Each monthly blog post will feature the perspective of a faculty member, alumni, or student associated with the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The first blog post has already reached over 4,000 readers across the college's social media platforms, and earned strong engagement in the form of likes, comments, and shares.

The college launched the new blog series in May in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month to highlight the osteopathic philosophy around whole-person care. Future blog posts will feature Dr. Jed Magen’s self-care tips for physicians, healthcare professionals and first responders, and Dr. Abbasi’s empowering recommendations to turn hate crimes into opportunities to take action.

The first few issues are driven by the immediate mental health and physical health needs arising from the impacts of COVID-19. If you have suggestions for upcoming blog post topics, email robin905@msu.edu.
