Message from the Dean - February 14, 2023

Back

Dear Friends,

We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and the injuries during the tragic shootings Monday night on our East Lansing campus. What transpired at Michigan State University is among our worst nightmares.

As we sheltered in place, hundreds of people from MSU, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and first responders selflessly entered harm's way to protect us, securing our campus and our homes. As we remember those who lost their lives, and hope for healing to those injured, we also remember the first responders and emergency room staff who worked through the tragedy on our behalf.

We understand each person must process and deal with this recent event in their own way, but the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine leadership team is here for you.

During this time, Michigan State University is under modified operations and services Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 15. We will resume full operations Thursday, Feb. 16. To learn more, visit msu.edu.

Sincerely,

Andrea Amalfitano, DO, PhD
Dean, MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine
